abhasa spa’s new stylist!

A new stylist has just been hired at abhasa spa. If you didn’t know, hair treatments, cuts, and styling can also be booked there in addition to massages. The new stylist, a gentleman named KOICHI, is a professional with over 12 years of industry experience, most of which was as an upscale stylist based in New York City.

To celebrate, abhasa spa is offering 25% off all hair salon bookings, valid from now through 7/20/2012. This offer is not valid with any other offer, and must be presented at the time of the booking. Just let them know you heard about it here!

Icing on the cake

On a whim, I visited the Baskin-Robbins here at the Sheraton Waikiki. OK, so I’ve been on a hardcore diet and I wanted to cheat a little. I just (and by ‘just,’ I mean like 5 minutes ago) purchased an ice cream shake made with their Icing on the Cake flavor and…

OH. MY. GOD.

IT IS SO GOOD!

My cup is already empty and I’m thinking about going back later today to get another one. I just had to share.

Spring is in the air!

We’ve had some pretty heavy storms here recently. Well, heavy for Hawaii, at least. But with the downpours come greener mountains and blooming flowers. Diamond Head is starting to look green again!

What all this means is that summer is just around the corner and the first thing that comes to mind is THE BEACH! Luckily, we have more than our fair share of swimwear shops here at Collections of Waikiki.

Our Local Motion store has the largest selection of RVCA (pronounced rooh-kah) attire in the state! It is unusual to go anywhere local and not see someone sporting a RVCA hat or shirt here…

First Break has a new line of swimwear, called Maaji. Imported from Columbia, all the tops and bottoms are reversible and are UNBELIEVABLY cute.

To come: Angelo, Hula-la, Flip Flop Shops, San Lorenzo Brazilian Bikinis, Volcom…and more!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

If any of you happy Hawaii-goers happen to be on property today, Honolulu Chocolate Company at the Sheraton Waikiki has large (and when I say large, I mean LARGE) freshly-dipped chocolate strawberries on sale, today only!

They’re super delish!

Tis’ the season!

Aloha and Happy Holidays! Here in Hawaii, we also say mele kalikimaka, or Merry Christmas!

The weather already seems a tad bit cooler and Christmas decorations are out and up in full grandeur. Few things bring a smile to my face like seeing ornaments on trees and hearing Christmas music play in public areas. It really makes me feel festive.

Here are some pictures of the holiday decorations we have up.

Our Santa sand sculptures have been a hit at the Sheraton Waikiki, and Honolulu Chocolate Company always does a fantastic holiday spread no matter the holiday. Many customers ask to purchase the ornaments and decorations actually used in their storefront display (which they actually do sell in addition to fabulous chocolates).

The stately Christmas trees (yes, there are more than one, though they are not pictured here) are well-flocked in white and pink, fully resplendent of the grandeur of the Pink Palace of the Pacific. A toned-down but nonetheless luxurious Christmas tree rests inside Maui Divers Jewelry Luxury Collection.

I always wondered how they get the Christmas tree inside the actual hotel lobby at the Moana Surfrider. I mean, the front entrance to the hotel is only so large! Next year, I vow to try and witness how it is really done.

The Sheraton Princess Kaiulani and its Kalakaua storefront shops have also outdone themselves with nutcracker and other Christmas decor. In addition, choirs and other holiday entertainment is happening on an almost nightly basis!

The gingerbread fabrication at the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani is also another sight to behold. Most people build gingerbread houses. This is a gingerbread CITY. A city, people! There’s a train, a circus, different mansions…

Tis’ the season, indeed.

More celebrity sightings at Collections of Waikiki…

Heh, I think I might just have to add to this list as they come in, but Paris Hilton was spotted at San Lorenzo Brazilian Bikinis at the Moana Surfrider the other day…

Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC)

Quite possibly the most momentous convention to be held in Hawaii in the last 10 years has just happened. Waikiki itself underwent a face lift, with major landscaping done at all major access ways to prepare for the dignitaries that would be arriving.

Our hotels, too, underwent some decorating, as many country leaders and heads of state would be staying here. Our stores put forth their best foot, and all in all, Hawaii itself did Barack Obama proud.

Japanese celebrity: IKKO!

We were very lucky for the Japanese cosmetics, fashion, and make-up specialist: IKKO to stop by. She checked out both Malie Organics and Accents, both stores who carry aromatherapy and beauty products made here in Hawaii.

IKKO-san, thank you for leaving us with an autograph, lots of pictures, and great memories! Please come visit Hawaii again~
